My Bookshelf

I love to read. However, I sometimes have trouble finishing a book. Unless the book captures my attention within the first three chapters chances are I won’t finish it. Frankly, I don’t have time to read a crappy book.

So what am I currently reading you may ask? Check out my nightstand:

Jazz Anecdotes by Bill Crow
Rating So Far: 2
Will I Finish? No
Comments: I have to read this book for the Evolution of Jazz class I’m currently enrolled in. I’m only going to read enough to be able to write my paper.

unChristian by David Kinnaman & Gabe Lyons
Rating So Far: 3.86
Will I Finish? Yes
Comments: This book has been very interesting. It’s taking me a while to finish it because it’s kinda dry. It’s drenched in statistics and graphs and numbers and everything I hate. However, still an interesting read.

The World Is Flat by Thomas L. Friedman
Rating So Far: n/a
Will I Finish? Yes – Even if it kills me!
Comments:This one’s the kicker. This book has been on my bookshelf for about 2 years. I’ve never read it. I decided to dust it off and give it a shot. The thing is it’s really loooooong. The best part is that I have the “Updated and Expanded Edition” ::sigh:: I’ve committed to reading this book and by golly I’m going to finish it!

As you can see I’m reading a lot of dry technical books. It’s great but I’m getting a little tired of it. After I’m done with the stupid Jazz book and unChristian I think I’m going to reach for something a little bit more emotional. Perhaps Francis Chan’s new book or reread a Don Miller book (I heart Donald Miller’s books).

  1. 1. Passion Nametag, awesome!
    2. I have unchristian in my night stand and I haven’t gotten into it yet.
    3. If you want to read something good, try “Inside Steve’s Brain”. I think it’s a good read, and you get to know Steve Jobs a little better. Pastor Troy’s leadership resembles Steve Jobs’ a lot.

  2. I love you IE… i had to read the Jazz book for the same class. Very Boring. I love reading, but also came on vacation thinking i would have more time to read and have gotten through one chapter of one book.. so yea.

  3. I hurt for you! You desperately need some sugar candy for the brain! Hop over to my bookshelf and pick out a GOOD Christian Fiction–QUICK!
